Moose is a WhatsApp-based networking assistant for events, operated by SmashTaps Pvt Ltd (“SmashTaps”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you interact with Moose via WhatsApp or visit our website at https://www.moose.app.

Information you provide

• Contact information: Your WhatsApp phone number and display name, provided when you message Moose.
• Profile information: Details you share during your conversation with Moose, including your name, what you are working on, your interests, who you would like to meet, and any other information you choose to share.
• Event participation: The event you are attending and your interactions with the Moose service during that event.

Information collected automatically

• Message metadata: Timestamps, message delivery status, and conversation identifiers provided by the WhatsApp Business API.
• Website analytics: Standard web analytics data when you visit moose.app, including IP address, browser type, and pages visited.

Information we do not collect

• We do not read or access your private WhatsApp messages with other people.
• We do not access your WhatsApp contacts, photos, or media unless you explicitly send them to Moose.

We use your information for the following purposes:

• Profile building: To understand your professional interests, needs, and goals so we can suggest relevant people for you to meet at the event.
• Matching: To identify other attendees at the same event who may be relevant to you, based on shared interests, complementary needs, or other contextual factors.
• Introductions: To facilitate introductions between you and other attendees, only after both parties have opted in.
• Event insights: To provide event organisers with aggregated, anonymised data about networking activity at their events (e.g., number of matches made, popular topics). We do not share your individual profile or conversations with organisers unless you explicitly consent.
• Service improvement: To improve Moose's matching quality and user experience.

Moose uses a mutual opt-in process for introductions:

• Moose may suggest other attendees as potential matches based on the information you have shared.
• No introduction is made unless both you and the other attendee agree to connect.
• When both parties opt in, Moose creates a shared introduction (e.g., a WhatsApp group or a message with context about each person). Only information relevant to the introduction is shared.
• You may decline any suggested match without consequence.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

• With matched attendees: When both parties opt in to an introduction, we share limited profile information (such as your name, what you are working on, and why Moose thinks you should meet) with the other attendee.
• With event organisers: We share aggregated, anonymised analytics about networking activity. We do not share your individual profile, conversation content, or contact details with organisers unless you explicitly consent.
• Service providers: We use third-party services to operate Moose, including WhatsApp Business API (provided by Meta), cloud hosting, and messaging infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

• Event data: Your profile and conversation data for a specific event are retained for the duration of the event and for up to 90 days afterwards to allow follow-up connections and to generate event insights.
• Account data: If you participate in multiple events through Moose, we may retain your core profile information to improve your experience at future events. You may request deletion at any time.
• Anonymised data: Aggregated, anonymised data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and service improvement.

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (provided by WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption for messages and HTTPS for our web services), access controls, and secure data storage.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your information. You can do this at any time by messaging Moose with a deletion request or by emailing us.
• Opt out: You may stop using Moose at any time by simply not messaging the service. You may also request that your profile be removed from future matching.
• Data portability: Request your data in a portable format.

Moose is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Moose operates on WhatsApp, which is owned and operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. Your use of WhatsApp is governed by WhatsApp's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review those policies.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Moose WhatsApp service or on our website. The “Last updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
